UNMARTED FAVOR
Who else but God could show us unconditional love, grace, and mercy.
In so many ways our Lord shows us how we should treat one another, how to love and how to be kind.
In Psalm 78, the children of Ephraim didn’t keep the covenant of God and refused to walk in His law. They had forgotten about the marvelous things God did in sight of their fathers in the land of Egypt and in the fields of Zoan. They tested God in their hearts even after He had dividing the sea so they could pass, leading them with clouds by day and at night by fire, and bringing streams out of rock so water flowed like rivers.
The Lord was furious when they started asking for food of their fancy, like bread and meat to eat in the wilderness but still He held His wrath, turning away from anger by remembering that they were but flesh.
When we get angry, we tend to hold a big fat grudge, yup, we can stay angry for hours and then we go home and take it out on the ones we love, but God on the other hand, He delights in mercy, He doesn’t retain anger, it’s not on His agenda to stay mad and hold something over our head, He wants to forgive and forget. Mercy is a form of love, especially directed toward the needy or unworthy.
The lord will not always strive with us but, oh man, He is merciful and glorious, slow to anger and abounding in mercy. Shouldn’t we , as Gods children, be doing the same.
It’s a constant battle to remind ourselves that when we condemn others that we are condemning ourselves, we will be judged by the way we judge.
We all go through trials, but those trials are what give us strength and endurance, the endurance allows us to prevail and win the next battle and so on. God doesn’t put us through stuff to destroy us but He does want us to learn how to forgive, how to love, and how to have grace and mercy. After all, isn’t that what He does for us each and every day by giving us unmerited favor. Gods mercy endure forever.
Where would we be without Gods grace that restores, His mercy that renews?
We should seek first the kingdom of God and give glory to His holy name!
From the beginning God chouse you for salvation through sanctification by the spirit and belief in the truth, to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.
2 Thessalonians. 2:13-17 Amen
